So – you want to make a quilt.  Well, you are in the right place. My first quilt was very easy. I used a MSQC tutorial found on YouTube.  I could tell you here or include a pattern but I think watching a tutorial is so much better and no one does it better than Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Company. The links for the instructions follow the Supplies you will need list.

If you make a quilt, be sure to post it below so that we can see what you did.

Supplies you will need:

  • Sewing machine
  • Pressure foot that has a 1/4 inch guide – not mandatory but it will make keeping your 1/4 in. seams more accurate.
  • Thread – 100% cotton quilting thread in a neutral thread  My favorite is Gutermann Quilting Thread Neutrals in Ecru.
  • Charm squares ( Pre-cut 5 inch squares)
  • Fabric for borders
  • Fabric for background
  • Needle for hand sewing the binding
  • 45 mm Rotary Cutter
  • Non-slip Quilter’s Ruler

Missouri Star Quilt Company has 4 Make a Baby Quilt videos to teach you step-by-step how to make a baby or small quilt.

Part 1 – Fabric Selection and Assembly      Part 2 – Borders (bias or straight cut)   Part 3 – Preparing and Quilting Your Baby Quilt   Part 4 – Binding and Finishing
